Portfolio > Boat Camera

A giant boat-camera was loaded with 200 square feet of film and floated down a river to capture a long, continuous photograph of the journey. As the camera floated down, the motions of the boat on the water were recorded in the image. Changes in speed or bobbing up and down altered the record of the journey.

The catamaran was built at Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art with the Gowanus-based boat collective Mare Liberum, according to their design.
